Milk Tea

Picture

Have you been looking for a delicious homemade Milk Tea?  Then, you are on the right page. Milk Tea has been trending lately especially in the Philippines. It's been around here in California since I came in 2004. More stores opened up and variety of different kind of tea has been a hit but Milk Tea is a favorite by many.

This milk tea is not complete with out the tapioca black pearl or we call it here in California, "Boba".  Cooking the pearls is a little challenge because if you under cook it., the middle part will be hard and if you overcooked, it will be mushy. The one I got from an Asian store are small pearls and has packaging instructions on how to prepare it.  Black Tapioca Pearls are available at any Asian Stores or online like Amazon. Please check the links on the right or below this text.

I boiled it for 25 minutes while stirring occasionally, turned off the flame and covered it for 30 minutes. It's very simple. It's an hour to prepare, so make it ahead of time.  Make sure to rinse it in cold water then transfer to a bowl with some honey to avoid sticking and drying.  They can be stored at room temperature for 3 hours but has to be chilled after that and consume within 7-8 hours. Over that time frame, the middle part will start to harden.
