Adobong Kangkong

Kangkong is known in English as water spinach or by the more ambiguous names Chinese spinach, Chinese Watercress, and in other parts of the world it’s despised as swamp cabbage or Kangkong in Southeast Asia. 

This green leafy vegetable's indescribable blandness and crispy texture perfectly complement pungent ingredients like garlic, mixed with vinegar and soy sauce which we used to make this Adobong Kangkong. ​

​Since it grows in water, I advise to wash it thoroughly.

​ADOBONG KANGKONG RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 bundle kangkong, washed, hard stems removed
  • ​4 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 medium onion (sliced)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil for sauteing

Suggested recipe: Tofu with Kangkong

HOW TO COOK:
  • Saute garlic & onion in a heated pan or wok with cooking oil.
  • Add the water, soy sauce & vinegar.
  • Cover & simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Add the kangkong and cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until the stems are tender.
  • Serve with hot steamed rice.
  • Enjoy!​​
