Crispy Cheese Dog Bread Rolls

Cheese Dog Bread Roll is another easy and delicious snack you can make for your family.  They are crispy and cheesy. Not like the traditional cheese dog bread roll you have tried.

This one has a mild sweetness to it to balance with the saltiness of the hot dog especially the cheese. Sweet by spreading the bread with a little amount of condensed milk. Tasty and crispy. Actually super crispy. Why? Because they are deep fried and not pan-fried.
​What's the difference? ​

Well, pan-frying takes a little more time to cook because you have to turn on all sides in order to brown it.  Also, this process allows the bread to absorb more oil. Once turned on pan, the side that's on top ended up being exposed and loses it's crispiness. Wherein deep frying, though needs more oil in pan, is very quick. Once you drop the bread roll in hot oil, it will be done in less than 2 minutes. It doesn't absorb much oil and gives you a nice even golden color and the exterior part is super crispy as well.

​Just make sure not to overcrowd the pan when frying because if you do, the oil's temperature will drop and you will end up with oily bread rolls. And so you know, I used plain bread crumbs here as I like it to look smooth and crispy. Panko breadcrumbs can also be used but they do have bigger crumbs so take note of that.

crispy cheese dog bread rolls

Ingredients:
  • 4 pieces hot dogs
  • 4 pieces sliced cheese
  • 8 pieces slice / loaf breads
  • 2 eggs
  • condensed milk for spreading
  • breadcrumbs for coating

Procedure:
  • ​Slice hot dogs and cheese in half. Set aside.
  • Trim edges of slice bread and flatten with a rolling pin.
  • Spread the flattened bread with a thin layer of condensed milk.
  • Add the cheese and hot dog. Fold and roll tightly. 
  • In a medium bowl, beat eggs.
  • Dip each rolled breads in beaten eggs until evenly coated. 
  • Roll in breadcrumbs.
  • Heat cooking oil in a pan. I suggest to deep fry the bread rolls and not pan-fry. (Please read my blog above about the difference between the two).
  • Deep fry until all sides are crispy and golden.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  • Serve while warm. 
  • Enjoy.
