These Egg Bread is one of the street food you can find in Korea which they call Gyeran Bbang. Gyeran means egg and Bbang means bread I once tasted this gem when I visited my daughter in Seoul and found this in Myeongdong.  They are usually baked on an individual oval shaped mini pan and since I don't have one, I used a mini loaf pan instead. It is made up of a pancake-like dough and topped with egg. To make it more delicious, I added some mozzarella cheese. Easy to make and I guarantee, you're gonna love it.

I've been wanting to make this and I found a couple of recipes online and tried them. Some recipe for the bread are too soft  and some are too hard so I thought of modifying it. I think oven temperature makes a big difference as well because of the egg on top.
Baking time will vary as it depends on how you like your eggs. If you want it fully cooked, then you need to bake it a little longer. If you like your eggs to flow like a lava when sliced, bake it for about 15 minutes. Mine was done in 18 minutes as I like my eggs to be cooked.

korean egg bread recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup whole/fresh milk
  • 1 1/2 tbsp butter,  melted
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 5 eggs, room temperature (1 egg for the batter and 4 eggs for topping
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • shredded cheese, I used mozzarella cheese

Procedure: (Video below)
  • Preheat oven to 390 F.
  • Grease a mini loaf pan. I used an 8 cavity mini loaf pan and greased only 4 cavities. (Cavity size: 3.5 x 2.4 x 1.2 inch)
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, vanilla and one egg.
  • Place a sieve on top of the bowl and add flour, sugar baking powder and salt.
  • Sift then whisk until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  • Divide the mixture evenly into 4 cavities of greased muffin pan.
  • Add some shredded cheese.
  • Add egg on top of each one.
  • Bake for  15-20 minutes or until set and golden brown.
  • Best served when warm.
  • Enjoy :)

Hi po! Ginawa komsya super sarap. Salted butter po ginamit ko kaya di ko na nilagyan ng salt. Pero parang gusto ko next time lagyan na para medyo maalat. Pwde din po ba maglagay ng grated magnolia cheese or eden sa mixture? If yes okay po ba 1/4 cup? Tapos po bakit po kaya lumubog yung egg ko gusto ko sana nasa taas hehe. 18 mins ko po niluto. Lastly, can i double the recipe para po
Makagawa ako madami? Nakagawa lang po ako 3 eh. Thanks!
