tiramisu

I was inspired to make this delicious dessert because as I am writing this, I am here at my daughter's place in Italy to spend time with her. Every restaurant here serves Tiramisu so I thought of making one so I can share with you the recipe. Tiramisu is a coffee-flavored Italian dessert. It is made from ladyfinger biscuits dipped in strong coffee, layered with whipped cream with mascarpone cheese and dusted with cocoa powder.  A dessert that is super easy to prepare and so delicious! A perfect make-ahead dessert.

video how to make tiramisu

Procedure: (Make sure to read  my tips below this page)
  • Using a large bowl, beat whipping cream, sugar and vanilla extract. until soft peaks form.
  • Add the mascarpone cheese. Whip until just combined or until stiff peaks form. Do not over beat.
  • Quickly dip ladyfingers in coffee and place in a pan (I used a 25 x 13 cm). I fit about 10 cookies.
  • Spread half of the cream mixture on top of the first layer of ladyfingers.
  • Repeat process with the 2nd layer.
  • Dust the top of dessert with cocoa powder.
  • Refrigerate for about 2-5 hours.
  • Serve and enjoy.
Tips:
  • Do not over beat the whipping cream after adding the mascarpone cheese. Beat until just combine or until the mixture forms a stiff peak. If you over beat, the mixture will be runny and will be wasted.
  • When dipping ladyfingers into the coffee, just dunk it quickly. Do not soak as the biscuits will fall apart.
  • 1 tbsp liquor or brandy can be added  to the coffee if desired.
  • For mascarpone substitute,  blend 8 ounces softened cream cheese with 1/4 cup heavy cream and 2 tablespoons softened unsalted butter . This an option I found online and I have not tried it myself just for your information if mascarpone cheese is not available in your area.
  • if you are in the Philippines, Broas is the closest you can substitute for ladyfingers.

Hello there,
I noticed that you did not use the egg mixture that I’ve been seeing in other videos, can you tell me what the egg is doing for the recipe or what does the egg do for the recipe? I really like your recipe because it looks simple and easy to make and I am very interested in making it.

Thank you

The egg will just add a creamy taste to the whipped cream.
