Black Sambo is a two-layered gelatin-based dessert made of chocolate and creamy milk jelly pudding. An easy to prepare dessert that you can make ahead for any occasion.  
You can set them into desired containers of your choice like gelatin molds, bundt pan, rectangular glass container, mini cups or mini wine glass like I used here. 
A perfect dessert for chocolate and gelatin lovers. Simply sumptuous! Top with whipped cream and dust with powdered sugar. The best!

​Please note that Mr. Gulaman gelatin brand was used to make this recipe. If using other brand, please make sure to follow packaging directions on dilution and use your best judgement to adjust the water.

Ingredients:
For Chocolate Layer:
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 cups water 
  • 1 can, 370 ml evaporated milk
  • ​1 can, 300 ml condensed milk
  • 1 pack, 25 grams unflavored clear gelatin
For Milk/ Cream Layer:
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup all purpose cream or heavy cream
  • 1 can, 300 ml condensed milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pack, 25 grams unflavored clear gelatin
​Note: Mr. Gulaman gelatin brand was used to make this recipe. If using other brand, please make sure to follow package instructions and dilution requirements.

Procedure:
  • In a large bowl, add the cocoa powder and hot water. Stir until smooth. 
  • Add 2 more cups water, evaporated milk and condensed milk. Mix until well combined then whisk in gelatin powder until fully dissolved.
  • Transfer the mixture into a pot. Turn on heat to medium and cook the mixture until steaming hot (not boiling).  
  • Remove from heat and pour in small dessert cups or containers of choice. Let It cool.
  • In another pot, combine water, all purpose cream, condensed milk and vanilla. Mix until well combined then add the gelatin powder. Mix until fully dissolved.
  • Turn on heat to medium and cook the mixture until steaming hot (not boiling).  Remove from heat and transfer  mixture to cups or containers with chocolate layer. Let it cool to set then refrigerate before serving.
  • Top with whipped cream if desired and dust with cocoa powder.
  • ​Enjoy.

Hi! Is it ok to use gulaman instead of gelatin?

You mean gulaman powder? It is the same with gelatin. We use the term synonymously. But please note the brand I use in this recipe and some notes I mentioned above.

Are the pictures the actual result? Firm yung naging result? Sorry. I tried making dati tapos naging runny masyado e.
