crunchy hot dog rolls

​This recipe is super easy to make. The hot dog is dipped in pancake batter, rolled in breadcrumbs, deep fried until crisp golden, then drizzled with dressing like mayonnaise, honey mustard and or ketchup. Crunchy and delicious!

If you have pancake mix sitting in your pantry, then there you go. You are ready to make this delicious snack your family will love. ​Let me give you two tips that are very important to make these hot dogs.
Tip: #1. Make sure to pat dry the hot dogs first before dipping into the batter to make sure the coating sticks with the hot dog.
​Tip#2: Use Japanese-style bread crumbs like Panko to achieve a golden and crispy coating. I find this japanese-style bread crumbs lighter in color and crispier than a regular or plain bread crumbs.

Ingredients:

• 2 cups or 250 grams pancake mix
• 1  tbsp vegetable oil
• ​1 egg
• 1/2 cup water
• 12-15 pieces hotdogs (Red or Brown)
• Bread crumbs for coating
• cooking oil for frying
• 12-15 pieces skewers

Procedure:

• Pat dry the hot dogs and insert wooden skewers on each hot dog. Set aside.
• In a medium bowl, combine pancake mix, egg, oil and water.
• Transfer the batter to a tall glass and dip the hot dogs on a stick into the batter until well coated, then roll it into bread crumbs.
• Preheat oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat. Fry 2 to 3 hot dogs at a time until golden brown for about 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
• Best served with mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard.
