Fish balls are one of the many Philippine street foods and definitely a favorite by most Filipinos.  Sold freshly deep fried, served on a skewer and dipped on a sweet sauce. It's the fun of eating it with a crowd, I guess but of course it's the special sauce that appeals to the palate and not actually the fish balls itself.

Since I am located in Southern California where Asian food is available everywhere in my area, ready made fish balls are an easy find. But no where to buy a sauce that is similar to what I grew up eating back home. So, I made my own. Every time I crave for it, I can easily prepare it.

Homemade Fish Balls sauce
Simple basic ingredients are what you need. Sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, water and cornstarch. Yes that's it. The key is the right amount of each ingredients to create a sauce similar to what we have in the Philippines.

Love this recipe! I have been using it for several years now, both when cooking for my clients (I’m a postpartum doula), and my own family. Easy, versatile, and they freeze great! Thanks for a keeper!
