If you love Banana Bread like I do, why not twist with a little flavor by adding cream cheese? You will be amazed how good it is once you do. This Cream Cheese-Filled Banana Cake is very moist and delicious. Tastes like it has cheesecake baked in.

I used my Easy Banana Bread recipe to make the batter (I cut the recipe in half to make one loaf) and filled with the cream mixture in the middle and top, made a swirl to combine it with the batter. Easy to make and delicious!

cream cheese banana bread recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups  + 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 whole egg + 1 egg yolk,  room temperature
  • 3/4 cup mashed banana
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp powdered or icing sugar

Procedure:
  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • Grease a 9 x 5  loaf pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  • Add milk, melted butter, egg and vanilla then then the mashed bananas. Stir to combine. Do not overmix. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, combine cream cheese and icing sugar.
  • Add egg yolk. Stir until fully combined then add 1 tbsp sifted flour.
  • Transfer half of the batter to a greased loaf pan. Add half of the cream mixture on top and swirl using a toothpick to combine. Add the rest of the batter and then the cream cheese. Repeat the swirl effect.
  • Place in the middle rack of the oven and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour or until the middle part is no longer gooey or toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean. (Please read my tips below).
  • Remove from the oven.
  • Allow to cool down for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from pan and transfer to a cooling rack.
  • Serve and enjoy!
TIPS:
  • If the tops start to brown faster than the center is cooking, lower the bread to the bottom of the oven to keep the tops from getting too brown, too fast. Or you can lightly rest a little foil on top of the bread to keep the tops from getting too brown. Place a foil on top after 45 minutes and continue baking for another 10 minutes.
  • Baking times will vary based on moisture content of bananas, cream cheese, climate, and oven variances. You need to bake this moist banana bread until done — watch your bread, not the clock.

Small pan, shorter baking time. I haven't tried you have to estimate and check. Thanks.

Hello Janette,
I tried this Cream Cheese Banana cake recipe and it was so good! I added a bit of crushed walnuts for some crunch. Also, I used regular 3.5% milk as there was no evaporated milk available at our grocery store and Muscovado sugar. It turned out really yummy and moist. Your website is my "go-to-site" for tasty recipes. Thank you.

is there a print button on your recipe pages, that just prints out the recipe itself, and not all the 7 pages with ads?

thank you,
