crispy fried dilis (smelt)

​INGREDIENTS:

• 1 lb. smelt, cleaned
• 1/2 cup flour
• 1/4 cup cornstarch
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder 
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon ground pepper
• 1 cup cooking oil

PROCEDURE:

• Rub salt and garlic powder all over the smelts. Let it stay for 10 minutes.
• Combine flour, cornstarch and ground pepper. Mix well. 
• Coat fish with flour mixture.
• In a pan, heat cooking oil.
• Fry in medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes or until it turns crispy.
• Remove fish from heat and drain excess cooking oil.
• Place in a serving plate and serve hot with spiced vinegar for dipping.
